It is dramatic to say Apple is betting the company on the iPhone but it is a bit preposterous to say the previous success of Apple&#8217;s recent products is just setting themselves up for a fall since their newest product can&#8217;t possibly meet expectations. This is a good problem to have.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/typepad\/sethsmainblog\/~3\/125833978\/misunderstandin.html\">Seth Godin writes<\/a> that in his opinion Steve Jobs is misunderstood since he is a rifter (Rifting is the process of fixing problems, of leaping from one broken market to another &#8211; which is an example of a growth mindset) not someone who is concerned or motivated by his legacy which is a fixed mindset perspective that some media are ascribing to him. With Steve&#8217;s Pixar-Disney connection it is interesting that the Walt Disney comparison is made. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walt_Disney\">Walt Disney&#8217;s story<\/a> involves a lot of setbacks but to me represents the triumph of imagination and persistence to pursue a vision.<\/p>\n<p>Other topics related to mindset and Apple include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/iWoz-Computer-Invented-Personal-Co-Founded\/dp\/0393061434\">iWoz<\/a> the other Steve&#8217;s book about growing up preparing to be an engineer and the <a href=\"http:\/\/fakesteve.blogspot.com\/2007\/06\/we-must-get-al-gore-to-run-for.html\">fake Steve Jobs blog<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- technorati tags start --><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:right;font-size:10px;\">Technorati Tags: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/tag\/attitude\" rel=\"tag\">attitude<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- technorati tags end --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carol Dweck&#8217;s book riffs on the importance of having a growth mindset and seeing challenges as opportunities for growth no matter what the outcome.
