Memories of 9/11

September 11 2001, is a historic date of the terrorist attack on the world trade center and pentagon. This event ushered in the war on terrorism and heightened homeland security measures. It has been brought back in the news with the killing of Osama Bin Ladin and visit to ground zero by Barack Obama.

Coincidentally it is also the birthdate of an innocent victim, Christina Taylor Green, in the shooting of an Arizona U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who miraculously survived a gun shot to the head. Cartoonist Jeffrey Koterba paid tribute to Christina in a cartoon. Christina Taylor Green was 9/11 symbol of hope and a budding politician who wanted to learn from Gabrielle Giffords. We need to remember these heroes. Osama Bin Ladin and Jared Lee Loughner were misguided individuals who thought violence on innocent victims could force change. They were wrong.
